Come tour private and museum gardens in the historic district or Portsmouth.

Please note the different hours on Saturday as we share Saturday with Market Square Day.

This year's Pocket Garden Tour takes you into the heart of Portsmouth history. You will see historic gardens that bring past needs and sensibilities to life, and also the gardens of modern day settlers in Portsmouth's historic center. 

The self-guided tour includes seven private gardens in addition to four historic gardens connected to museum homes.

Along the route you will find musicians, artists, and refreshments.

And your PGT brochure entitles you to a $5 discount to view Art in Bloom, a display of floral arrangements inspired by the art, architecture, and collection of Portsmouth history at the John Paul Jones House June 13 & 14 10am-7pm.  

Note:  It's a busy weekend in Portsmouth with Market Square Day on June 14 from 9-4.

The 36th Pocket Gardens of Portsmouth Tour is a rain or shine event. 

(Often the best time to tour the gardens is in a light rain.)

The map/brochure gives access to the tour for one person and can be used on either day of the tour.

Refund Policy

Refunds are offered only in the situation of full cancellation of the event.  

Cancellation Policy

This is a rain or shine tour.  We will cancel only if unsafe conditions occur on both days.
